Your Questions About Financial Freedom Services

Linda asks…

Is this the laymans answer to the financial crisis?

The Financial Crisis – An explanation

Mary is the proprietor of a bar in Butlerstown. In order to increase sales, she decides to allow her loyal customers – most of whom are unemployed alcoholics – to drink now but pay later. She keeps track of the drinks consumed on a ledger (thereby granting the customers loans).

Word gets around and as a result increasing numbers of customers flood into Mary’s bar.

Taking advantage of her customers’ freedom from immediate payment constraints, Mary increases her prices for wine and beer, the most-consumed beverages. Her sales volume increases massively.

A young and dynamic customer service consultant at the local bank recognizes these customer debts as valuable future assets and increases Mary’s borrowing limit.

He sees no reason for undue concern since he has the debts of the alcoholics as collateral.

At the bank’s corporate headquarters, expert bankers transform these customer assets into DRINKBONDS, ALKBONDS and PUKEBONDS. These securities are then traded on markets worldwide. No one really understands what these abbreviations mean and how the securities are guaranteed.

Nevertheless, as their prices continuously climb, the securities become top-selling items.

One day, although the prices are still climbing, a risk manager (subsequently of course fired due his negativity) of the bank decides that slowly the time has come to demand payment of the debts incurred by the drinkers at Mary’s bar.

However they cannot pay back the debts.

Mary cannot fulfil her loan obligations and claims bankruptcy.

DRINKBOND and ALKBOND drop in price by 95 %. PUKEBOND performs better, stabilizing in price after dropping by 80 %.

The suppliers of Mary’s bar, having granted her generous payment due dates and having invested in the securities are faced with a new situation.

Her wine supplier claims bankruptcy, her beer supplier is taken over by a competitor.

The bank is saved by the Government following dramatic round-the-clock consultations by leaders from the governing political parties.

The funds required for this purpose are obtained by a tax levied on the non-drinkers.

Finally an explanation I understand . . .

John answers:

Absolutely yes!

Charles asks…

Is this how the financial meltdown happened?

The financial crisis explained in simple terms so that even I understand it:
Heidi is the proprietor of a bar in Berlin. In order to increase sales, she decides to allow her loyal customers – most of whom are unemployed alcoholics to drink now but pay later. She keeps track of the drinks consumed on a ledger (thereby granting the customers loans).

John answers:

Its a nice story but i think the real reason we are in this mess is the people in Washington being very irresponsible with the choices they made on both sides of the aisle and we need more regulations to fix the mess

Sharon asks…

Would free healthcare create a domino effect?

I wonder if some people fear free healthcare would create a domino effect where customers demand that ALL services be FREE from gas stations to grocery stores to car dealerships to movie theaters and that if you make one service free (just go in and get an operation with the government paying the doctors rather than the patients doing it) then all services in America should be free. That would probably destroy the saying, “Nothing in life is free” but also add new meaning to the saying, “land of the free” in a financial sense (freedom from expenses) rather than an emotional sense (freedom from oppression).

John answers:

Actually some of the most prosperous countries in the world over free health care to all citizens. The simple fact of it is when people are healthy they miss less work, complain less, and have more energy to do other things in life. I don’t really think it would cause a domino effect because the less money people are spending on doctor visits and prescriptions the less it hurts to have to pay for everything else. It’s easier to spend 60 to fill up your car when you didn’t just spend 160 for a prescription after a 500 Dr. Visit.

And the people saying they don’t want to pay for everyone Else’s insurance. This isn’t insurance. I have insurance it pays for jack and shit and i have the most expensive package offered in my area. This isn’t about entitlement. This si about the government providing a basic need for it’s citizens regardless of thier financial status. Most of the people on disability right now could have been prevented if they could have afforded basic healthcare when problems first came up. Before condemning everyone as lazy entitled feeling scum maybe you should walk a mile in their shoes

Sandra asks…

Who knows about this and what’s your opinion?

In Egypt, all citizens must list their religious affiliation on state ID cards and other documents, and current policy requires that they choose from one of the three officially recognized religions – Islam, Christianity or Judaism
EGYPTIAN COURT RULES AGAINST BAHA’IS, UPHOLDING GOVERNMENT POLICY OF DISCRIMINATION CAIRO, 16 December 2006 (BWNS) — In a closely watched case that has become the focus of a national debate on religious freedom, Egypt’s Supreme Administrative Court ruled against the right of Baha’is to be properly identified on government documents. The decision upholds current government policy, a policy which forces the Baha’is either to lie about their religious beliefs or give up their state identification cards. The policy effectively deprives Egyptian Baha’is of access to most rights of citizenship, including education, financial services, and even medical care.”
Bahai World News
Some folks might think this belongs in the religion list, but I think it is better suited here. This is why:
I think this is more of a law and ethics question than a religiouse question, because I’m not asking about POV of religion, but of the law that is effecting religions.
Seems to me that descrimination of any kind anywhere deminishes us as a species.
Doesn’t matter what religion is being descriminated against or where.
Or gender or color for that matter.
–The Chronicler
I did not know that Egypt was a soveriegn goverment.
And there are a lot of unanswered questions.
Seems to me that, least in my neck of the woods, we hear so little of Egypt.
Does anyone know how the Egyption law works? In a case like this?

But I can’t help but think of a religiouse noting on id something like the stars worn by Jewsleading into WWII. Something that did, eventually, did effect the entire world.
Bahai’s were rounded up and killed durring the Holocost too, as well as a few other odds and ends.
And in Iran Bahai’s were id and refused rights including life back in the ’80s. And Iran has started to take away Baha’i property and destroy their holy places again in the last few years.
So, this isn’t limited to Egypt.
And, seems to me, if we, as a world population, allows one group (color, religion, whatever) to be singled out, what stops it from happening to the next group? And, once it starts, how deos it stop without another world war?
What do they say about not knowing what the 3rd WW will be fought with, but the fourth… sticks and stones!

John answers:

This is an ethical situation that warrants being looked at from a universal point of view. Official classification of people based on arbitrary identifiers such as race, religion, or ethnicity is almost always the first step toward human rights abuses.

How do you think the Nazis managed to orchestrate the Holocaust? They did not wake up one morning and shout “everyone who is a Jew get on the train to the death camp!” They started with defining who they thought was a Jew, and making Jews declare their religion. Then it went on to wearing the yellow star, restricting profession and property rights, later to deportation and ghettoization, and finally to mass murder. It was a gradual process that started with identification.

A more recent and faster moving tragedy that was fueled by official identification of this sort is the Rwandan genocide. For years before the genocide, Rwandans were forced to identify their ethnicity on government issued ID. When the killing began, Tutsis were easy to identify because of this ID. Within weeks, hundreds of thousands were dead.

Official identification of minorities by governments is never a good thing for the world because what may happen degrades the humanity of us all.

Chris asks…

Do you also think that Google Home Biz is a scam?

So…I can’t believe that I fell in this trap but I did…so just to warn others. There are more posts related to this on Yahoo answers, but a little older…so I thought I would refresh the info. There are a lot of internet money making scams out there, but these people get better and better. They advertise on what it seems like legit websites, they say they will only charge you $1 for shipping fees and they put Google in their name to make it more credible. Anyway, after one pays the $1 then you can see if you look carefully on the bottom of the page, with very small letters, that they will charge you a membership fee of ~79 monthly. They never say anything about this before you pay. Below I pasted the e-mail confirmation I got from them…and it says something about a membership fee now, but still not how much it is. People apparently got charged the amount after 7 days without even knowing why. Anyway…right after I signed up for it I called the 1-800- number listed below and they cancelled my account. But still I’m worried about my credit card…I’ll have to watch it carefully!
So…be careful out there…all these internet money making websites are scam!

John answers:

Yes, I also think it’s a scam (and I fell for it, too, because I wanted to learn more).

I was unable to reach them on the 646 number (“the offices are now closed”) but got through on the 800 number to cancel the account and got a cancellation confirmation number. However, I still don’t trust them and called the credit card company to replace the card I used — their practices sound too much like phishing.
